Megan Burgess aims to represents Texas Agriculture system, bringing a lifelong passion for livestock production, youth agricultural leadership, and veterinary medicine to her platform. Growing up deeply rooted in the Texas ag community, she has dedicated her life to advocating for the people and animals who make Texas agriculture strong. Her journey began in FFA and 4-H, where she served as an FFA officer for four years and competed in numerous LDE and CDE events, building skills in animal science, leadership, and agricultural advocacy. She also spent many years showing livestock, earning numerous Grand Champion titles and further developing a deep understanding of responsible animal care, showmanship, and production practices.
Beyond the show ring, she has committed countless hours to rescuing and rehabilitating animals, providing hands-on care to those in need and working tirelessly to ensure they find safe, loving homes. This work sparked her devotion to animal health and inspired her to pursue a professional path in veterinary medicine. She is currently in school earning her Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) credential, allowing her to combine scientific training with a heartfelt commitment to improving livestock welfare, supporting Texas producers, and educating the next generation of ag leaders. Her advocacy highlights the essential role veterinarians play in food safety, herd health, and sustainable agriculture across the state. When she isn’t studying or working cattle, she enjoys spending time with her two spoiled dogs, Banks and Lacey, who remind her daily why compassionate animal care matters. As a delegate, she strives to uplift the importance of veterinary medicine in agriculture, as well as support youth agriculture programs like FFA and 4-H, and responsible livestock production. With experience in leadership, education, animal rescue, and competitive livestock showing, she is honored to serve as a voice for Texas agriculture and the communities who depend on it.
