From the Heartland, your 2025 Elegant Ms. Illinois - Ms. Megan Knack!
Meet Megan, a horse lover through and through. Her passion for horses started early, when she got her first pony at just 4 years old! Growing up on a small farm with a handful of animals and coming from a family with roots in the automotive industry, Megan's developed a strong work ethic and hands-on approach to caring for horses. With 31 years of experience riding and caring for these amazing animals, she's developed a deep understanding of their needs and personalities. She's had the privilege of riding for multiple horse trainers under various disciplines, gaining valuable experience in showing and trail riding. As a certified equine massage therapist (2014) and kinesiology taping expert (2016), Megan's worked with countless horses and owners to improve their health and well-being. She's also trained as a natural hoof trimmer (2018). With extensive experience collaborating with veterinarians and trainers, Megan's gained a unique understanding of the complexities of equine care. Currently, she also serves as a county fair judge for two counties, where she gets to see and appreciate the hard work and dedication of horse owners and exhibitors.
Beyond the equine world, Megan attends the Threshermen's Reunion, a beloved 4-day ag event where she gets to indulge in her passion for history and machinery. The steam engine enthusiasts have taken her under their wing, allowing her to participate in driving and learning about the vintage machines. Megan loves engaging with attendees, listening to their stories, and learning about the machinery that shaped the agricultural industry decades ago. Her family joins her in this annual tradition, making it a cherished experience for all. When she's not working with her clients, judging at fairs, or immersing herself in the Threshermen's Reunion, you can find her hanging out with her own menagerie - horses, chickens, ducks, turkeys, dogs, and whatever else she's brought home! With a wealth of knowledge and experience, Megan's dedicated to sharing her expertise with others.
