FAQ
Absolutely not! We invite all passionate women and girls to join the Miss agHERculture system, regardless of their prior experience with farming or ranching.
While it is essential that you have a genuine interest and desire to advocate for the agriculture community, you do not need to be a farmer, own livestock, or have a degree in agriculture to compete.
Our core goal is to build a diverse team of leaders who are eager to:
Advocate for the women who feed and clothe the world.
Educate consumers and communities about the truth and power of the agriculture industry.
Learn about the vast, diverse, and dynamic world of American agriculture.
Serve their community.
Your unique background—whether in business, education, technology, or communications—provides a valuable fresh perspective needed to promote the mission!
No, there are no mandatory duties or minimum requirements to fulfill before the State or National Pageant. Ultimately, your state or city title is what you make of it!
However, we highly encourage you to use your title to serve and advocate in your community. During your reign, you should aim to:
Serve your community and local agricultural organizations.
Create and advocate for your personal platform.
Post frequently on social media to document your impact and educate your followers.
This active engagement is key because a portion of the pageant competition involves an interview where judges assess your commitment, service, and advocacy work conducted during your reign. The more you put into your title, the more you will gain from the experience!
The financial investment required to compete is variable, but it is important to know that all monetary fees can be covered by securing sponsorships and do not have to come directly from the contestant or her family. We encourage utilizing this process to develop valuable business, marketing, and fundraising skills.
The total investment typically breaks down as follows, which covers registration, entry fees, and administrative costs:
State Queen Titleholder: The investment ranges from $975 to $1,275+.
City Queen Titleholder (Texas System): The investment ranges from $400 to $500+.
The "+" sign indicates that additional, non-mandatory costs (such as Scholarship Ambassador, People's Choice votes, wardrobe, travel, and personal platform expenses) may vary based on the contestant's personal choices and existing resources. We provide resources and guidance to help titleholders minimize these out-of-pocket expenses.
The total investment is comprised of two parts: Registration and Entry Fees. All funds collected go toward overhead and funding the scholarship fund for winners at the state and national pageants.
1. Registration Fees
These fees are due when submitting an application to claim a state-appointed or city-appointed title. This payment includes the mandatory scholarship fund fee required to secure the title and begin your reign.
2. Entry Fees
These fees are due when a titleholder commits to compete in a formal national or state pageant. These funds finalize your status as an official pageant contestant.
No, staying at the Host Hotel is not mandatory. However, it is highly encouraged for several reasons:
Convenience: There are no dedicated dressing rooms or secured staging areas available near the competition venue. Staying at the Host Hotel ensures you have immediate access to your room for wardrobe changes, makeup touch-ups, and storing belongings between events.
Networking: The hotel serves as the central hub for all titleholders. It's a key opportunity to meet and mingle informally with other state and city representatives, National Staff, and judges throughout the week.
Logistics: Many official events, meetings, and early morning activities may take place directly within the Host Hotel facilities, simplifying your transportation and schedule.
